So Amazon have come up with another first for their new Kindle Oasis. A Champagne Gold Kindle Oasis! They’ve broken the ranks of traditional Black and White EReaders with this rather colourful edition.

My two cents is that whilst it’s not my personal preference for colour I can see why it would appeal others. I know that Apple have a range of products in this colour so my assumption is that Amazon are wanting to head in the same direction as Apple have tested the waters for them.

So you’re ready to jump onboard with the funky new colour? Well, there’s a catch. This colour is only available if you buy the 32Gb model. This means that you can’t get the 8Gb version in Champagne Gold. Something worth considering that it does add a few bucks to the price tag.

It’s unclear yet whether or not this version of the Kindle is a limited edition one. We’ll have to wait and see whether or not sales will justify the new edition to the Kindle range.

That’s it for this post, just wanted to give you a heads up for those of you who are on the fence about the new Kindle Oasis, this could tip you over the edge!

Until next time

My name is James and I'm the founder on I wanted to create a site that makes it easy for people to choose what's the right EReader for them out of the hundreds of choices though writing in-depth reviews and guides.

Is there any difference in the functionality of this new Oasis series ? or is it simply the usual kindle with a new look, I do enjoy my kindle and think its great for taking on holiday, however I do not think I would simply get another one based on the colour, think if they want to compete with Apple products they will have to offer something a bit different, I am not a Apple fan as I think there products are limited in certain ways.

    Hi Katie,

Thanks for your comment and you raised a good point there. I can confirm it is the same Kindle Oasis but with a new lick of paint. You’re right in terms of Apple’s model of adding that little a extra, it’s something I’ve yet to see Amazon adopt.

Hi, I’ve been looking into eReaders as these days I mostly only read eBooks and not hard copies. I just find it a lot more convenient, especially reading in bed at night because I don’t need a lamp or anything.

Currently I use the Kindle app on my iPhone, but was wondering if there is really an advantage to switching to a dedicated eReader such as the New Kindle Oasis?

What’s your opinion?

    Hi Darren

Thanks for your post and a great question. For me personally I would recommended one as I find reading long term on phones causes eyestrain due to the way the screens are designed. This is not the case for EReaders. Also with the screen size being bigger it makes for a more enjoyable experience.

I was going to buy a book in the “store” on my e-reader but was unable to do so because the “buy” square is not there. I tried numerous books but to no avail. The last book I bought was at the end of May. What is the problem?

    Hi Sue,
Sorry to hear you’re having issues. Can I confirm that you can go through the various stages of buying an EBook using your Amazon account and a web browser? If not then it might have something to do with your payment methods set up on the account. If that looks like it’s working then you may have to do a factory reset (though I’d recommend backing up your books/data first). let me know how you get on.

I am unable to verify my Amazon account to my new Paperwhite. I have approved the verification from the link sent to my phone several times but nothing else happens. Restarted Paperwhite, checked internet connection

    Hi Lesley,
Sorry you’re having issues with the verification process. For this issue you may need to get in touch with Amazon support as I’m assuming something has gone wrong on their backend systems and it’s unlikely you’ll be able to fix this yourself. Let me know how you get on.
